We have been out since just before sunrise attempting to understand how Sir Samuel White Baker’s 1864 expedition crossed several rivers in their attempt to reach Lake Albert. After discussing a late 1950’s copy of a map derived from the Baker diaries, we have discovered a great deal. Most importantly, everyone has an opinion, and here on the African continent they might just have more than one! With lots of local help, just as Baker found when he passed through 150 years ago this month, we have pieced together the trail from Masindi Port across the Kafu River and across the Lugogo River…
